Toubleshooting a wireless network
description
This document will tell you what you do if your wireless network is not working.
requirements
before using this procedure you will need
- the SSID of your wireless network
procedure
- Firstly, we suggest that you remove all security from your wireless network.
- This will mean removing any Network Key (WEP or WPA) and Access Restrictions from your wireless access point.
- You should also make sure that you are broadcasting your SSID.
- Now remove all settings from your other wireless equipment except for the SSID.
- If your wireless network is still not working then you may have hardware problems, or your wireless equipment may be too far apart.
- If your wireless network starts working, gradually implement each of the security options: don't broadcast your SSID, implement Access Restrictions and set up a Network Key. You can read Setting up a wireless access point and Connecting to a wireless network to find out how to do these things.
