the things you never say

4' 28" [mp3]

this is the title track of my second album and has been released with a new remix and some new playing. My brother Neal appears on the Piano for a mellower backing track & I've sung it again with my geetar.

We chose this song for an EP title because it's pretty unusual in what it's saying but a lot of people can relate to the idea. Written at a time when I was needing someone to become more intimate or disclosed with me to make sense of the relationship but they weren't forthcoming. It wasn't what they were saying that I had any problem with - it was what they were witholding

one less holy

4'26" [mp3]

a song written in something like 1989 - not particularly life related although the sentiment became pretty resonant in my life last year - but that's all I'm saying! This is on The Things You Never Say album

shake the moon down (home demo)

4'49" [mp3]

This is my latest serious song and I never tire of it. It'll be recorded soon I hope - this was all done at my home studio and I'm playing all the instruments. Blue is the colour of my heart laid bare here so take what you want from it.

she won't talk to me (summer strummin' demo)

4'46" [mp3]

A version of the pop hit sensation from The Things You Never Say - this was a fun version we did with the band & I recorded this 'I'll play everything at home vesion' to check the relationship & see if it improved the song. As it is it's just a bit of fun and it's a bit of a lumpy groove and the vocal's too loud, but who am I to slag myself? You don't have to listen to all the songs anyway.

This EP is designed to get me listened to on the radio. If you've got to this page after hearing me on the radio - hey - it worked!!
