Windows 95/98/ME - Using disk defragmenter to defragment hard disk drives

this procedure describes how to use the disk defragmenter program to defragment your hard disk drive(s). it is best to run the disk defragmenter program in safe mode. click here to find out how to start windows in safe mode.
note: always scan your hard disk drive before you try to defragment it. click here to find out how to scan your hard disk drive.
procedure
- click on the Start button and select 'Programs' > 'Accessories' > 'System Tools' > 'Disk Defragmenter'
- select your first hard disk drive from the 'Which drive do you want to defragment' list
- click on the [OK] button
- a message may appear telling you that you don't need to defragment your drive at the moment.
