eis ltd: kb0020: Changing the backup tape

this procedure will tell you how to change the backup tape.

before using this procedure you will need

Look at your backup log sheet and identify the next backup ID in your backup sequence. If you are unsure about your backup ID sequence then contact EIS Ltd or your system administrator.
Now identify the earliest tape that was used for today's backup ID that has not been used since.
Remove the current tape from the tape drive and store it according to your backup security policy.
Put the tape that you have identified into the tape drive.
Write the current date and time into the relevant columns of your backup log sheet.
Write the backup ID (depending on your backup sequence) and media ID (the name or label of the tape) onto the backup log sheet.
Write your name or initials in the 'Changed by' column of your backup log sheet.
